| A mosaic of Aldeburgh loveliness! |
A few weeks ago I wanted to something textiley and I decided to try and reflect Aldeburgh. Not an actual representation, more of a memory of the light, the textures, the movement and the colours.
I kept to a very limited colour palette, but used a variety of different fabrics and threads.
I did some free motion embroidery, some hand embroidery, half hid some mother of pearl buttons and made some rust like holes through the layers of fabric with a solder iron.
I added some shells and a small piece of drift wood.

I'm not sure if it does reflect Aldeburgh, but I don't know whether that really matters. I enjoyed working with the limited colours and at the moment I quite like it.

It works so well to reflect the colours and textures. Don't know why but when I see work like this I think it falls into what I call 'yummy-exciting' category.

It's beautiful and certainly reminds me of the waves gently creaming into the shore with sand and shells etc. I have never been to Aldebergh but I love the textile creation!

It's beautiful! I love the muted colour - just like it's been bleached by sun and saltwater and wind on the beach.

It's beautiful - I love the combination of colours and textures. They work so well together and it really does give a sense of the sea and the sand in the shades and the curves.

Beautiful, and does it really matter if the piece doesn't reflect Aldeburgh particularly? The main thing is that you used your talents to make a beautiful piece of work, well done clever old you.

Aldeburgh is my favourite seaside town too and I love that textile art, very evocative.
Have never made it further down that coast than Lowestoft, so Aldeburgh and Southwold are both high up on the list of places I would like to visit. Your work is exquisite as usual Su and full of detailed observation - are those little wormcasts that I can see ?

Personally, I think its beautiful and just SHOUTS of ozone freshness and bracing walks in a wintery light

You're very talented! I have only visited Aldeburgh once and I agree with you it is lovely. It was also memorable. We were at the till in a supermarket when I recognised the man in front of me as someone I knew ... I thought he must live near us and be on holiday too ... then I realised it was Bill Nighy!
Su, I have to say that although I've been singing the virtues of Kent of late, I really do love Aldeburgh and Southwold too. It has retained a wonderful old-fashioned feel and there is nothing quite like exercising the calf muscles on its fabulous pebbly beach!
Your mosaic sums the place up well and I love the beautiful piece that it has inspired.
