Splash of Colour - February

I was determined to get into the garden over the weekend and I actually managed to find quite a bit of colour there.
Primroses, rhubarb shoots, a cheery pansy, cornus elegantissima, self seeded hellebore, winter flowering honeysuckle (has to smelt to be really appreciated!), self seeded hellebore bud, snowdrop buds (so nearly there) and sedum buds.

The snowdrops (lovely double ones) appeared last year after I'd removed some paving slabs from that area - goodness knows how long they'd been buried.  The honeysuckle was in flower when I moved in, which is nearly 3 years ago, gosh how time flies!

There are plenty more blogs with splashes of colour, a list can be found on Silverpebble's blog and on the flickr group page.

Soon be spring - so much to look forward to.

A Splash of Colour - January

I guess this post could also be subtitled 'Some of My Favourite Things'.  It's been rather grey here for days now, and although the cloud is lifting it's still grey, so here are some of my favourite things to add a splash of colour to the greyness.

There's chocolate biscuits (yes there's colour in chocolate!), bobbins wound and waiting, dyed curly wensleydale fleece, alluring beads, a bag of ribbons and lace, a shelf of picture books, the beckoning colours of silk bricks, my Grandma's buttons (rather muted by today's standards) and cherry liqueur chocolates that need to be finished before the diet can begin.

A Splash of Colour is hosted by Silverpebble and there are many more pictures on the Flickr group too.

PS - There is one of my favourite things missing from this mosaic as I'd drunk it before I remembered to photograph it!

Splash of Colour - December

Here is my Splash Of Colour for December, hosted by Silverpebble.  There are also some bright and cheery photos on the Splash of Colour Flickr group.

I was quite amazed at how much colour there still was in the garden at this time of year:

 1.Christopher Marlow frosted   2.Orange Rosehip   3.Cotoneaster Berries
4.Clematis Freckles   5.Choisya    6.Rose Thorns
7.Red Rosehip   8.Paperbark Cherry   9.Christopher Marlow in the snow

It's bitterly cold here but we have escaped with less snow than most of the rest of the country.  Hope you're all managing to keep warm.

Splash of Colour - November

I've decided to join in with Silverpebble's wonderful Splash of Colour project.  The idea (for any of you who don't know) is to post a colourful photo at the begining of each month from November to February to combat the greyness that's outside.

This is my offering for November, the jumbled and higgledy contents of my thread box.

She's set a flicker group up so you can pop over there too to see lots of wonderful bright colours!
