A Tale of Three Ones

Yesterday I finished one sock.

It's the first sock I've ever knitted and I'm quite pleased.  I did a short row heel and managed to not have any gaps or holes (although I did unravel it a few times to achieve that!). It's self patterning sock yarn just incase you thought I'd used loads of different colours - it's clever stuff.  I think the 2nd one will be quicker and easier.

A few weeks ago I went to the local silk mill sale and bought silk in the sale for £15.00 a metre and made one curtain for my dining room door/window.

It only needs one curtain as it's really window dressing as the window/door is internal.  Apparently the silk would have retailed at over £100 a metre when it was sold commercially a couple of years ago so I got a good deal.  It hangs beautifully and drapes onto the floor looking very opulent.

And today I spied one hellebore peeping up through the snow.

A sign of things to come.

Very productive...and you work too! You put me to shame. I love the sock and its self striping yarn-genius idea.

Love the sock, hope to see number two very soon then! What a brave little hellebore, you have to admire it's courage.

Ooh, socks ... I have an aversion to knitting socks, you're clearly made of sterner stuff than me!

That silk looks like fabulous stuff ... what a bargain!

I've got the sock knitting bug too... I love the curtain, there is something very luxurious about having a real silk curtain!

Self-patterning sock wool is just genius! If you're a perfectionist knitter you will try to make the stripes align on the second sock (normal knitters will go with the random effect).
Your curtain is very luxurious! And you can wrap it round yourself and have a diva-moment ;-)

ps Why haven't I got hellebores any more? Do hens eat hellebores?

I'm a fickle flower favourite kinda gal, but right now hellebores are top of my list. I have a few just like your one tentatively making their first show in my cold front garden. So, so gorgeous.

Love that silk curtain. I have two dark green ones at the landing window, filched this weekend out of my husband's little study where they tended to get in the way of his model railway layout. He is much happier with the blind he has now, and I am much happier at having sorted out the landing window to my total satisfaction, at last!

Love the sock... such great colours. I have a bag of silk offcuts from that very same mill waiting for me to do something with them.

I thought that it was only bad things that happened in threes but obviously not :) Hope that brave little hellebore had less snow to battle through today Su.

I thought how clever you were using loads of different colours ! I knit socks on two needles, probably not so neat but they are good inside boots and I can't do the heal-turn thing anyway.

What a bargain! I can imagine the silk costing over £100 originally.

I don't think I have ever knitted a sock though I have done gloves, when I was at primary school.

I love handknit socks, especially in this chilly weather. It's a while since I've knit any, I must remedy that.

Very beautiful sock and curtain! I made one pair of socks a couple of years ago but haven't quite raised the energy and determination to do another pair. I do have snowdrops and hellebores though as they don't need my help much any more! Lovely photos on your blog btw.
