Tall Dreamy Spires

Very little of my garden is in full sun and generally I struggle to get delphiniums to flower well but for some reason this year, despite it being so cold and wet for so long, they're the best they've ever been.

The bees have been loving them today as well.

The bees have also been loving the foxgloves.

All my foxgloves are self sown digitalis purpurea and come in the usual variety of pinks, purples and whites but for the first time ever I've got a pure pale lemon one too.

And also this one that looks rather scraggly as a plant

but has the most amazing, very narrow and delicate white trumpets.  I've never seen another foxglove like it before.

I'm hoping it will set lots of seeds for me to scatter about, maybe it might even cross with the lemon one!

Now, if I didn't let the hens free range I'd be able to how so many more flowers!

Your delphiniums are beautiful and so is that very unusual white foxglove.

Stunnung flowers Su.. I'm hoping to grow some Delphiniums for next year, amongst many other things. That white foxglove is unusual but a pretty one.

We also have lots of self-seeded foxgloves - there is one that is the most gorgeous shade of pale pink. Don't know where it came from, but I am looking forward to that one self-seeding that's for sure. Our delphiniums are no more... I can only assume they have just rotted off underground in the awful long winter. I think we shall have to invest in new ones next year.

Delightful Delphiniums and fascinating Foxgloves! I had a white sport Foxglove one year, it was multi stemmed too - the silly man who cuts the grass strimmed it to the ground...

Same here! My Delphs are good this year. Foxglove (only one) not so good and Lupin really struggling! Thanks for your tip in your comment at mine - yes, carrot cake is the benchmark!! xCathy

Foxgloves do well in my garden, all shades of pinks, cream and pale lemon never white. But lupins and delphiniums are ok if I buy a plant it grows for one year then is never seen again! I've given up on them. Your delphinium are lovely!

I do love delphiniums and foxgloves. The crazy weather we've had this year seems to have done wonders for the flowers for some reason. x

You're not the first person I've encountered who's saying that the weird weather has done their gardens good. I don't like it to be too hot so I'm quite happy for the cooler weather to continue, just so long as it doesn't rain!

My delphiniums have been good this year too - love that raggedy foxglove - most unusual.
